The Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana (PMMVY) is sponsored by the Indian Government. It is a maternity benefit scheme launched by the Ministry of Women and Child Development with the aim of providing financial aid for pregnant and lactating women.

The aim of this scheme is to compensate the women for their wage loss, provide nutrition to both child and mother in their prenatal period, ensure the pregnant women get enough rest before and after the delivery, and also, to reduce the mortality rate during the live birth.

Cash Incentive:

  • Rs.5000 is given to the Pregnant women in three installments:
  • First Installment (Rs. 1,000): Within 150 days, after registering the pregnancy in Anganwadi Centre or any healthcare facility
  • Second Installment (Rs. 2,000): Between 6 to 8 months of the pregnancy i.e., After at least one antenatal check-up.
  • Third Installment (Rs. 2,000): Thereafter the child’s birth and at the first cycle of vaccination (BCG, OPV, DPT, and Hepatitis-B).

Eligibility Criteria

General Eligibility:

  • For the first live birth to Pregnant and lactating women.
  • Also, pregnant women should not be covered under any other maternity benefits by the government or employer.

Exclusions:

  • Government employees or people who are receiving similar maternity benefits are not eligible.
  • Still, pregnancies resulting in stillbirth or miscarriage are not eligible for subsequent installments.

Age:

  • However, the woman should be above the age of 19 years.

Documents Required

  • Personal Identification: An aadhaar card is mandatory for the pregnant woman and her husband.
  • Bank Details: Bank account passbook or post office account details such as account number, and IFSC code.
  • Proof of Pregnancy: MCP/RCH card issued by the healthcare facility or Anganwadi.
  • Proof of Delivery (for Installment 3): Birth certificate of child.
  • Vaccination Record (for Installment 3): Proof of vaccination under the national immunization schedule.
  • Last date of Mensuration Period.

How to Apply

Online Process

1. Registration:

  • Firstly, visit the official PMMVY website or the Women and Child Development portal.

2. Log In:

  • Secondly, log in using your credentials.

  • Enter personal details such as name, address, Aadhaar number, and bank/post office account details.
  • Also, provide pregnancy-related information like Expected Delivery Date (EDD) and all the healthcare records.
