Tamil Nadu Chief Minister’s Girl Child Protection Scheme

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister’s Girl Child Protection Scheme is designed by the Tamil Nadu government to protect girl children from illiteracy, uneducation, gender discrimination, and violence. Certainly, the objective of this scheme is to provide a better future, improvement in life, and empowerment for the girl child.

Objectives:
Improving Quality of Girl child Life:
This scheme is to ensure improvement in the economic status of the family with low income and also, to provide financial assistance for the girl child born in socially and economically disadvantaged areas.
Girl Child Protection:
Protects the girl child from violence and also from child marriage.
Hence, ensures that the girl child is married only after 18 years of her age.
Prevention of Illiteracy:
Indeed, to enhance the life of girl children by providing education, and quality of life and empower them.
Financial security for empowerment of women:
Financial assistance is provided to the family for the future of the girl child well being and to improve the economic status of the low income family.
Family Planning:
On the other hand, this scheme ensures that family planning after two children.
Application Eligibility:
- The annual income of the family should be Rs. 72,000 or below.
- A family with two girl children is eligible for this scheme.
- Parents of the girl child should be residents of Tamil Nadu for more than 10 Years.
- Any one of the parents should be sterilized before attaining the age of 40 years.
- The family must have girl children. Further, the family must not have a boy child or should not adopt in the future.
- Moreover, Sri Lankan Tamil refugees are eligible for this scheme.
Tamil Nadu Chief Minister’s Girl Child Protection Scheme Benefits:
- Eligible families with single girl children will get Rs.50,000 and also family with two girl children will get Rs.25,000 for each child according to this scheme.
- The Tamil Nadu Government renews the FD every 5 years.
- Thereafter, this FD account holder will get an incentive of Rs.1800 from the sixth year onwards.
- This fund will given after the child attains 18 years of age with certain restrictions.
- When the girl child is above the age of 18 years, she will the FD amount with a deposit amount and interest.
To Withdraw FD:
- Girl child should be the age of 18 years.
- Moreover, she should have passed the 10th standard.
- Further, her marital status should be Unmarried.
Documents required:
- Birth certificate
- Parents age proof
- Parents address proof
- Income Certificate (issued by Taluk office)
- Community Certificate
- Family planning/Sterilization Certificate (issued by Government/Private Hospital).
- Proof for no male child
- Family Photograph
- Ration Card
Time Limit :
Application should be submitted before the second child attains 3 years of age.
